Dealer notes
F40 Motorsports is truly proud to be offering this 1 of 1 1958 Victress C3 Coupe (Titled as a 1960 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe).1958 VICTRESS C3 COUPEAwarded the Endicott President’s Trophy at the 2023 Misslewood Concours Not to be confused with a ”Kit Car” - a Victress was delivered (1950’s) as a one-piece Fiberglass Body Shell. All other items required to transform that Body Shell into a complete functioning car had to be sourced and/or fabricated by the Buyer. This gave the Owner a great deal of Artistic Freedom. There was no right or wrong - the only guide was the vision of the Owner. The vision and goal at Historic Motor Sports was to assemble an American made Sports/Touring car that approached a European Look and Production Quality as closley as possible for the period. The Victress C2 Coupe (1955) and the larger C3 Coupe (1957) are believed to be the first American made fiberglass coupes. Fewer than 20 C3 coupes were produced. Marine grade plywood was used to give structure and support to the Body Shell. The Floor; Fire Wall; Dashboard; B-Posts and Window Frames are all fabrications. High quality materials (leather) and equally high quality installation gives a European look and feel to the interior. Dynamat was used extensively to provide a solid feel and to limit interior noise. The tail styling of the Coupes predated GM’s 1957 ‘Q-Corvette’ as well as XP700 and ultimately lead to the new tail shape for 1961 and later Stingray Corvettes. (Attributed to Bob McLean/Peter Brock) Given the strong visual connection with 1961 and later Corvettes, Historic Motor Sports began this build with a nut and bolt restoration of a stock 1960 Corvette chassis; a date coded 283 cu. in. V8 Engine with Power-Pack Heads; Dual-Quads and a T-10 4-speed trans (with Hurst Shifter) and other period correct components. Other parts available in 1960 include Austin-Healey Instrument Panel. A Ferrari influence is apparent in the nose design, hood scoop and egg-crate grill. The original body designer, Merrill Powell (now 95 years old) saw (and sat in) the car at Amelia - and was pleased. He signed the Glovebox Door. Price does not include $0 processing fee
