With its iconic stacked headlights, split front grille, and aggressive street presence, Motor Trend named the 1965 GTO its "Car of the Year." This particular car carries that rich heritage, backed by extensive paperwork, while benefiting from choice mechanical upgrades that make it an absolute blast to drive today. While originally equipped with a 389, a previous owner upgraded the powerplant to a potent 1969 GTO 400CI / 350HP V8 topped with a 4-barrel carburetor. It delivers effortless torque, great throttle response, and incredible muscle. The current owner took the car to another level by upgrading the Transmission from the factory 3-speed manual to a legendary Muncie M-22 "Rock Crusher" 4-speed manual transmission installed just two years ago, paired with a Hurst Shifter. It handles the power flawlessly and gives that distinct, satisfying mechanical whine gearheads love. A deep, menacing dual-exhaust system provides the perfect classic V8 rumble. New front coil-over shocks have been installed to give the car an aggressive, dialed-in stance. The factory-correct White vinyl bucket seat interior with center console is in overall excellent condition. The dash pad is flawless and completely crack-free. It features a full Rally gauge cluster (including tachometer), supplemented by aftermarket EQUUS gauges neatly mounted under the dash to keep tabs on vital engine stats. The car features a Retro Cal Customs AM/FM radio that mimics the old-school factory Pontiac look but provides modern sound & reliability. The original headliner remains in excellent shape, and the cabin is protected by Pontiac rubber floor mats. This is a very solid car with excellent panel fitment. The Montero Red paint still shines beautifully. It is a highly presentable driver with minor, honest imperfections from enjoyment—the most notable being a scratch on the passenger-side rear fender (pictured). All factory trim, chrome bumpers, and GTO badging are intact and range from good to excellent condition. The trunk compartment and undercarriage are clean, solid, and rust-free. The car rides on factory Pontiac Rally wheels with a classic staggered muscle car look: newer Dunlop GT Qualifier white-letter tires (255/60/R15) in the rear and newer Cooper Cobra white-letter tires (225/70/R14) in the front. A/C Note: This is an original AC-equipped car, though the components were removed by a previous owner. This GTO comes with an impressive file of paperwork that supports its history and value including: Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) Documentation, Original Window Sticker, Original Owner\'s Manual & Period Pontiac Brochure. Also included is a thick folder of receipts detailing maintenance and upgrades performed by the current and previous owners.
